The global wellness economy was $6.8 trillion in 2024, up 7.9% in a year. That figure counts beauty. Strip it out and 10 sectors still outgrow the world economy.
My call: $12 trillion by 2030. The analysts model 7.6% a year. I model 10%: last year already ran 7.9%, the 2 fastest sectors, wellness real estate and mental wellness, run 19.5% and 12.4%, and the models were built before 2 waves: 100 million people on GLP-1 drugs by 2030, and 1.2 billion over-60s buying prevention. $6.8 trillion at 10% for 6 years is $12 trillion.
By 2030 wellness becomes your personal operating system. Wearable, sleep, food, training, stress and recovery data feed 1 daily loop. The winners do not sell meditation, protein or Pilates. They sell adherence: the system that makes healthy behavior easier than unhealthy behavior.
The money agrees: Oura raised $900 million at $11 billion, Whoop raised $575 million at $10 billion. Most people still own a stack of subscriptions, a drawer of wearables and no change in behavior. The winner connects the data, the coach, the product and the habit, and proves results.
The warning: wellness is full of vibes pretending to be evidence. NAD+ drips, IV ozone, hyperbaric chambers, mushroom powder and the dopamine detox are not healthcare. Proven interventions become trusted infrastructure, pseudoscience becomes expensive content.
